FRANCES LUBA
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Frances Luba, beloved wife, mother and Babcia on January 25, 2009 at Concordia Hospital.
Frances is lovingly remembered by daughter Phyllis (Ron) Mruss, sons Ted and Frank Luba, grandchildren Jeff Mruss (Danielle Beernaerts), Kerra Mruss (Adrian Frost), Mark Mruss (Danielle Allard), Emily and Zoe Luba and great-grandchildren Isabelle Frost and Benjamin Mruss-Allard. She also leaves to mourn her passing family in Toronto the U.S. and Poland. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years Felix, by her first husband Tomasz and by her son Kazimierz.
Frances was born in Poland in 1916, emigrating to Canada in 1935. She was a warm and caring wife, mother and Babcia. A fantastic cook, she was famous for her turkey soup, breaded pork cutlets, apple pie and pierogi. Gardening was one of Frances' passions and she was extremely proud of her tomatoes, raspberries and flowers. She also loved picking wild mushrooms and blueberries.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg and Concordia Hospital for their exemplary care and understanding.
Funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, January 30, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Polish National Church, 361 Burrows Ave., with Very Rev. Msgr. Wesley Cwieka officiating, preceded by viewing at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
