Obituary of Caroline MALEC

CAROLINE (CAROL) MALEC Carol passed away peacefully on July 14, 2011. Carol is survived by 2 nephews Stanley (Helen) and Ralph (Sharon); grandnephews Ryan and Justin; grandniece Krystal ; sister-in-law Margaret; cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Stanley in 1949 and Pelagia in 1978; brother Cass in 2008, a brother and sister in infancy. Carol was born March 3, 1922 in Winnipeg and with the exception of 2 years in Montreal, she lived the rest of her life in Winnipeg. She started her working career as a civil servant attached to #2 Training Command (RCAF) during WWII, followed by a 35-year career with TCA/Air Canada. A 32-year period of retirement followed, during which she led a full and active life. She golfed with the Kildonan Ladies, curled with the Air Canada and Carefree Association, sang with the Stradbrook Senior Singles, lawn bowled for a while and of course, travelled extensively over the years. Particularly meaningful to her was making the acquaintances of her European and American cousins. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Flowers are gratefully declined, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, Salvation Army or to the Grace Hospital.
