Obituary of Bohdan Mamrak

BOHDAN (BEN) MAMRAK Following many years of various health problems, facing each challenge without complaint and with strength and endurance until the end, Ben passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on July 21, 2008 at the age of 73. Ben was predeceased by his parents Anthony in 1969 and Agnes in 1978. He is survived by his wife Marilyn of 21 years, stepdaughter Lesley (Ken) Mardynalka, granddaughters Leandra, Brielyn and Mikayla, brother-in-law Brian (Elaine) Acott and nephew Cody (Jen). Although Ben had few relatives he always tried to keep in touch as long as he was able. Ben had a great love for all animals and was especially proud of his three German Shepherds, Major, Quincy and Gypsy-Rose as well as Corky the Cockapoo. Ben's entire career spanned 38 years at MTS retiring in 1991 from Network Provisioning. He was a Winnipeg Blue Bomber season ticket holder for many years and went to many a Grey Cup with Stan, Adam, Carl and Brian. Ben's home away from home was the downtown YMCA where he was a member for well over 50 years. He still enjoyed seeing "the boys" at the Y. Ben loved Mexico and winters were spent in Acapulco. Travel with Marilyn took them to the Orient and Europe as well as most parts of Canada and US. Cremation has taken place with interment at Brookside Cemetery. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Ben's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008 at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road in Windsor Park with Father Fred Olds presiding.
