FILOMENA MELO (nee MONTEIRO)
It is with deep sadness and sorrow the family announces the sudden passing of our Mother on February 19, 2012 at the age of 91 at Seven Oaks Hospital.
Filomena is survived by her loving husband, Francisco; daughters Maria (Domingos), Laura (Tony), Aida (Paul); sons Frank (Maria), David (Grace); 11 grandchildren, Helia, David, Denis, Marco, Anita, Amanda, Steven, Melissa, Ashley, Jessica and Sabrina and 4 great grandchildren, Lucas, Brandon, Jack and Sandro. Filomena also leaves to mourn her two sisters Ines, Laura and two brothers Francisco and David.
She was predeceased by her parents Rita and Joao, as well as her five brothers Jaime, Joao, Antonio, Manuel, Jose and sister Maria.
Filomena was born in Santa Maria Azores, Portugal and immigrated to Canada in 1969. Filomena was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her family.
We would like to thank the staff at Middlechurch Home, A-l Station, for the love, compassion, friendship was outstanding and appreciated.
Prayers will be held on Thursday, February 23 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N. Entombment to follow in Assumption Cemetery, Queen of Heaven Mausoleum.
For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
