Obituary of Michael MENTANKO
MICHAEL MENTANKO
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Mentanko, beloved husband of Kay, at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre on February 28, 2010 at the age of 73.
Besides his wife Kay, Mike is survived by his stepson Roger (Kathy), 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves to mourn his passing, brothers Fred (Leona), George, and Willie, and sisters Lilly (Gus), Mary (Mel) and Ilene (David). He was predeceased by parents Verna and Nick, brother John, stepson Edward and stepdaughter Linda.
Mike loved being with his family and was always thrilled to spend time with them. He was fond of gardening and yard work and was also an avid golfer. He enjoyed traveling and cruises. He vacationed numerous times with Kay in Hawaii and spoke fondly of the Big Island. Mike worked at Manitoba Sugar for 32 years. He was a generous man and gave blood 85 times, only stopping due to high blood pressure. Mike was much loved and will be very sadly missed by all who knew him.
We would like to give sincere thanks to all the staff at the Golden Door for the tireless and incredibly kind care given to both Mike and the family.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 5 at 11:00 a.m. with Visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment to follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mike's memory to the Golden Door Geriatric Centre, 1679 Pembina Hwy.
