Obituary of Dennis Nazeravich

Dennis Nazeravich March 27, 1916-September 27, 2010 Peacefully, on Monday, September 27, 2010, Dennis Nazeravich, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, aged 94, passed away at the Concordia Hospital. Dennis is survived by Frances, his loving wife of 59 years; two sons: Don (Debbie), Ken (Carolyn); granddaughters: Christiane (Jeff), Alexis, Carleigh and Andrea; two brothers: Bill (Olga) and Myron (Phyllis) two sisters: Olga and Jean; and many nieces and nephews. Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Pelahia, brothers Alexander and Nick, and sister Mary. Dennis was born March 27, 1916 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His family later moved to Hazelridge, Manitoba, where he lived until he went to Normal School in Winnipeg to become a teacher. He began his teaching career in rural Manitoba (Rosa, Melrose and Oakbank) before returning to Winnipeg where he taught industrial arts (silk screening, book binding and woodworking) at several schools (Strathcona, Aberdeen and St John's High School). In 1968, Dennis obtained his Bachelor of Education Degree (Major in Industrial Arts) from the University of North Dakota. Dennis retired from teaching in 1981. In his retirement, Dennis spent countless hours in his home work shop. Dennis and Frances enjoyed golfing. On many an occasion, the golf game would be interrupted for some mushroom or blueberry picking. Dennis loved getting together with family and friends; trips to California, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Mexico; Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving dinners. But the times he enjoyed the most were the times he spent with his four precious granddaughters. The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the staff of N1S and N1N at Concordia Hospital for the care and compassion that they provided during Dad's final hospitalization. We would also like to thank all of the staff from Home Care who made it possible for Dad to remain in the comfort of his home. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2010, at The Ukrainian Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, 1175 Main Street at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Holy Trinity Cathedral or a charity of your choice.
