John was born October 26, 1922 in Rossdale and attended school in Birdshill. His desire to work with his hands instead of continuing his education led him eventually into the construction field. He joined the army as a rifleman and on December 25, 1943 he married Anne Rodozoniak. Together they raised their children in Birdshill, Elmwood and finally in East St. Paul. He went into concrete construction with his brothers and later with his sons. He had the capability of taking on the jobs that other contractors were unable to do. In his retirement he enjoyed playing cribbage and the slots, going fishing, and working in his garden. To all who knew him, he was the "Garlic King". He was a member of East St. Paul Seniors Club and the Elmwood Branch #9 of the Royal Canadian Legion. He enjoyed the Game Show Network and he enjoyed it when company joined him for a shot. He truly appreciated the friendship of the Seniors Club and the baking and canning that they brought him.
