Obituary of Donald PESTRAK
DONALD PESTRAK
AKA "THE BEAR" "PESKY"
April 1, 1953 - March 7, 2011
With regret and immeasurable sadness the family announces the unexpected passing of Don at his home, on the evening of March 7, 2011, when he left us to fly with the angels.
He was predeceased by his father, Fred (1997); father-in-law Petras Ziminskas (2000) and his grandparents.
Don leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 32 years, Nijole and his cherished daughter Karley. Also remaining are his devoted mother Evelyn; mother-in-law Ona; sisters Kim (Dave) and Judy; nephew Ryan (Leanne); niece Carrie (Aaron) and soon to arrive great niece; and also Goddaughter Melissa (Jeff); many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and business acquaintances.
Don was the first born to Evelyn and Fred, a large baby, the doctor remarking "He'll be a big man! Yes, a big man with a loving gentle heart. He attended Lord Roberts and Churchill High School where he excelled at football and gained the nickname "The bear" After high school, he was employed at Jay Dee Products in silk-screening and later ventured on to owning his company in partnership with John Ferencz and Siva Nadarajah and of late Jason and Jimmy Ferencz at All Canadian Emblem Corporation where he spent his days the last 34 years.
He adored his "Daddy's little girl" Karley and their time spent together was priceless to him. He enjoyed family times, drives, TV, all movies, the cottage, fine food and was a wealth of knowledge on many diverse subjects. He was enjoying his new vehicle , especially taking Karley for "car rides" and meticoulsly maintaining it.
He will always be remembered as a loving, caring husband and father. A wonderful son and brother and a genuine human being.
Sincere thanks to Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, Winnipeg Police Service, Medical Examiner, Bob and Marie Russell, Lily Peitsch, Evelyn (Mom), Siva and all family and friends at our time of need.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
Donations may be made to S.P.I.K.E. Inc. (special people in Kildonan East), 1795 Henderson Hwy. Winnipeg R2G 4E9 or St. Amant Centre (Day Program) 440, Chemin River Road, Winnipeg R2M 3Z9.
