Obituary of Mary PIDHAYECKI
MARY PIDHAYECKI
With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Mary Pidhayecki at the age of 92 on September 21, 2008 at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre. Mary was born in Rembrandt, Manitoba on April 13, 1916 to Martha and Matthew Pidhayecki.
She was predeceased by her brothers John, Dymetro, William (Bill), Nick, and her sisters Tekla, Justyna (Josie) and Nellie. Mary is survived by her sisters Anne and Polly (Harry) Ruskin as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary came to Winnipeg at the age of 17 where she began her working career in the restaurant field for a short period of time and then became employed in the garment industry where she remained until retirement at the age of 65.
Mary's family was very important to her and this closeness continued throughout her entire life.
Some of her favourite pastimes were playing cards, going to the casino and during her earlier years had travelled to Las Vegas, Reno and the Black Hills.
Besides being a strong, determined and generous lady with a great sense of humour, she was also gifted with a phenomenal memory. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
The family would like to thank Jack and Cindy and the staff at Kildonan Personal Care Centre for their care and compassion to Mary.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery on North Main Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's memory to a charity of your choice.
