Obituary of Jennie Pistun

JENNIE PISTUN (nee HYKAWAY) Jennie passed away peacefully in the arms of the Lord on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Seven Oaks Hospital with her family by her side. Jennie was born in Meleb, MB on January 6, 1920. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Jennie enjoyed cooking and knitting. She worked for Great West Life for 33 years. Jennie was predeceased by her husband John, parents John and Maria, brothers Steve, Nick, Fred, Peter, Dan, Joe and Sam, sisters Ann and Tena, and son-in-law Murray. She will be sadly missed by her children, Emily Evans (Buck), Adeline Natyna (John) and son Dennis (Pam); grandchildren Michael, Daniel, Russel (Samantha), Tim (Shannon),and great-grandson Oliver, sister Kay Gretchen, sisters-in-law Stephanie Mykita, Ann Pistun, Helen Hykaway, Sophie Hykaway as well as many other relatives and friends. Prayer service will be held on Tuesday, March 30 at 7:00 p.m. at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 965 Boyd Ave. Wpg. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 31 at 10:30 a.m. at the church with Fr. V. Bashutskyy officiating and Fr. Chuckry assisting. Following a luncheon, interment will be at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Michael and Daniel Natyna, Allan Hykaway, Ed Myskiw, Douglas Gretchen, and Roy Chuckry. The family would like to thank Dr. Tsang as well as the staff in the ER and 3rd Floor Unit 4 at Seven Oaks Hospital for their care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jennie's memory to Blessed Virgin Mary Church or the charity of choice.
