Obituary of Kay RAFNKELSSON
KAY (KATHERINE) RAFNKELSSON (nee FERENTZ)
It is with great sorrow that we announce that our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and best friend, Kay (Katherine) Rafnkelsson passed away on December 20, 2009 at the age of 89 with her daughters by her side.
Cherishing her memory are her two daughters and families: Bev Trudel (Roger), Michel and Nicole; Shirley Rafnkelsson (Len), and Jason; nephews Randy Lewicki (Cynthia), Dale Lewicki (Linda), great niece Tracy Feniuk (Matt), great nephew Dennis Lewicki, and their mother Karen. She will be missed by long time companion Mike Fedak.
She was predeceased by her husband Joe (Jonas) in 1973, sisters Mary (Alex) Skibo, Jean (John) Lewicki, grandson Andre Trudel, and many other relatives and friends.
Our mother devoted her life to her family. For her, loving, caring and fussing over others was a way of life. Mom was a loyal, generous and good woman who put everyone's needs before her own and always wished the best for everyone around her. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she spent many years caring for them. Her powerful impact on our lives will never be forgotten.
The family extends sincere appreciation to Middlechurch Home, where she was comfortable and content for the past three months. As well, special thanks to the caring nursing manager, nurses and staff on U5 at Seven Oaks Hospital whose compassion and expertise guided us through Mom's last days.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 24 at 9:30 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kay's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
