Obituary of Rosa Rodrigues
Rosa da Concei��o Rodrigues (February 7, 1915-March 4, 2011)
On March 4, 2011 at her residence Rosa da Concei��o Rodrigues, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, daughter, passed away at the age of 96 years. She is survived by: daughters Ana dos Prazeres Rodrigues Goncalves (Joaquim), Pureza R. Lourenco (Manuel), Gloria R. da Silva (Francisco), Maria R. Soares (Antonio), Rosa R. Soares (Francisco), Leonor R. Mendes (Antonio), Olinda R. Alves (Jose), Piadade R. Gomes (Armindo), and son Jose Rodrigues Cunha (Amelia), 19 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Antonio da Cunha, two brothers, and a sister.
Rosa was a loving woman who will be dearly missed. She grew up in Arcos de Valdevez, Portugal, where she enjoyed raising her children on the family farm. Later, when her husband passed in 1990, she immigrated to Canada to live with her daughter Prazeres Goncalves, Joaquim, John, and Lisete. Rosa was an active woman who enjoyed traveling to visit her children in New Jersey, France, Germany, and Portugal. She was always a joyful person who shared great stories and songs, and always knew how to make people laugh. Rosa passed peacefully in her sleep, after a long struggle due to illness. The family would like to thank Dr. Abdulrahman, Dr. Ricardo De Faria, and all the staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital and Emergency department, and also those who helped with family managed homecare. Prayers will take place on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at 8:00 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at 9:00 a.m., both at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin St. N. Interment will take place in Arcos de Valdevez, Portugal.
