HENRIQUE GOMES BECO
After a courageous battle, Henrique Beco passed away, with his family by his side, at the Health Sciences Centre on Sunday March the 4, 2012.
Henrique was born in Roliça Bombarral Portugal on December 8, 1936. He arrived in Canada in March of 1965 and settled in Winnipeg. He married Maria Hortense Leal on June 21st, 1969, in Caldas da Rainha Portugal. Together they had 2 children Clara and Nelson. Henrique loved to garden and make wine, which he would share with family and friends. He worked in construction for the City of Winnipeg and retired in 1997.
Henrique is survived by his wife Maria Hortense, daughter Clara Benevides (Joe), son Nelson (Sandy), grandchildren Vanessa, Megan, Jordan, Emily and Justin, Sisters Ermelinda Santos and Isabel Maria, brothers Antonio (Celina) and João and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank friends and family that visited Henrique in the hospital for their support. They would also like to thank the staff on GD5 at HSC for their care and compassion.
Prayers will be said on Friday, March 9 at 5:30 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 10 at 10:00 a.m. also at Immaculate Conception Church with interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery, 4387 Main St.
In lieu of flowers family request that donations in Henrique’s memory be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
