Obituary of Glenn SALTER
GLENN WAYNE SALTER
1943-2011
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Glenn (Slater Stash) Salter. Glenn fought a long and courageous battle with various illnesses, but his fight came to an end July 15, 2011.
Glenn will be sadly missed by his wife and love of his life - Sandi - who was constantly by his side, daughter Catherine (Blair), granddaughters Heather, Tayler and Madison, brothers Bill (Sally), Ron (Maryann) and sister-in-law June, numerous nieces and nephews, and his faithful and loving dog Max.
Glenn was predeceased by his Mom and Dad - Mary and Bill (Knobby), brothers Jerry and Bob.
Glenn leaves to mourn many close and good friends.
Glenn was born and raised in Winnipeg. He had a few jobs before his career at Seven Oaks School Division, starting out as a janitor then a school bus driver (Bus 16), where today he is still remembered by the students, and finally as Director of Transportation. Glenn didn't do a lot of travelling, more so when he was younger, but one of his favourite places was Nashville, Glenn was extremely country, winning singing contests by his favourite, Johnny Cash. Upon his retirement, along with wife Sandi, moved to another one of his favourite places, Grand Marais.
The family would like to thank Dr. Harris and the nurses of Concordia Oncology, the Doctors and Nurses of Selkirk General Hospital, to Jeff who always found room for Glenn and Wendy who could always make him smile, the homecare Nurses, Susan, Colette and Carol who always had Glenn's best interest at heart.
A service to celebrate Glenn's life will be held on Thursday, July 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
The moment that you died Our hearts broke in two One side filled with memories The other died with you We often lay awake at night When the world is fast asleep And walk down memory lane With tears upon our cheeks Remembering you is easy We do it every day But missing you is a heartache That never goes away We hold you tightly within our hearts And there you will remain Life will go on without you But it will never be the same
We love you Glenn and we will miss you forever
