Obituary of Jose SERPA
JOSE CAETANO SERPA
June 14, 1908 - July 23, 2008
With family by his side, Jose passed away peacefully at the age of 100, at Bethania Personal Care Home.
Jose was predeceased by his wife Olivia; son Arlindo; son-in-law Bert; his parents Jose and Gertrude and his 3 other siblings.
Jose was born in the village of Sao Bartlomeu, in the island of Terceira, Azores, Portugal. In 1940 he married Olivia and raised 5 children together with love and devotion: Maria Irene Basarowich, Manuel Serpa, Joe Carlos (Filomena) Serpa, Maria Lourdes (Domingos) Borges and Arlindo (Christine) Serpa.
Together with their children, they moved to Canada in 1966, where they spent the rest of their lives watching their family grow to include grandchildren and great grandchildren, Jose (Karen) Dutra, Paulo (Sandra) Dutra, Elizabeth, Dina, Elmiro, Paula (Corey), Sandra (Steve), Diane (Ryan), Roger (Betty) Borges, Danny (Dawn) Borges, Elsie and Mike continue to cherish the memory of their Av�. Matthew, Tyler, Samantha, Bradley, James, Aaron, Irene, Christopher, Samantha, Alana, Hailey and Emma will also remember great grandpa with fondness. Jose will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
A special thanks to the staff at Bethania Personal Care Home and Dr. Duerkson for their loving care and continued support.
Please join us at prayers on Friday, July 25 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. We also invite you to join us to celebrate Mass of The Resurrection on Saturday, July 26 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Munroe and Brazier. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jose, Paulo, Roger, Danny, Mike and Elmiro.
