ALEX SHASTAL
It is with great sadness in our hearts that the family announces the passing of Alex Shastal on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the Seven Oaks Hospital.
To mourn his passing are: his wife of 61 years, Olga; daughters Trude and Charlotte; granddaughter Sarah and 2 wonderful great-grandchildren Zachary and Mariah; sisters-in-law Alice Shastal, Loretta Shastal and Helen Schwan and several nieces and nephews.
Alex was predeceased by brothers, Bill and Harvey; sisters Anne Prokop, Mary Motriuk Kustra and Elsie Mack.
Alex excelled in all sports. He was a lifetime member of the Pineridge Golf Club. In 2005 he was inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame. Alex possessed an easy going personality and a terrific gift of humour.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 5 at 3:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St.
In lieu of flowers a donation in Alex's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
