Obituary of Mrs. SHOEMAKER
MRS. EFFIE SHOEMAKER
(NEE BIRCHALL)
It is with sadness that the family announces that Mrs. Effie Shoemaker of Brandon, formally Elkhorn, MB passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the Extendicare Tuxedo Villa, Winnipeg with family at her side.
Effie was born to parents Lewis and Elizabeth Birchall, September 17, 1927.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband Fred; son Mark; brother Lewis and sister Mary.
Effie is survived by sons Jim (Donna) of Steinbach, MB, Darryl (Rhonda) of Irvine, AB, Kevin (Cindy) of Winnipeg, MB; daughter Valerie (Victor) of Courtney, BC, Monica (Ken), of Brandon, MB, Brenda (Bob) of Somerset, MB; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Annie (Grant) of Elkhorn, MB and Betty of Surrey, England; brothers Doug of Oliver, BC; sisters-in-laws Bernice, Vera, Flora Shoemaker and Joyce Young; numerous nieces and nephews.
Effie Shoemaker was a longtime member of the Royal Purple Lodge of Canada, both in Elkhorn and Brandon. She worked in the secretary's office for the Lodge for several years before retirement. Mom/Effie was a devoted wife, a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 6 at 1:00 p.m. at Brockie Donovan Funeral Home, 332 - 8th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 3X4, Phone: (204) 727-0694.
