Obituary of Mia SLOBODIAN
MIA GENOVEVA SLOBODIAN
Born March 29,1924
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, on September 9, 2008. Mia will be deeply missed by her children Lori, Heidi (Steve) and her grandson, Noah, as well as many other extended family and friends. Mia was predeceased by her husband, Mike and her brothers Joseph and Edwin. Mia was born in Frankenbrunn, Germany. She came to Canada after World War II to live with her brother Joseph and his family in Southern Ontario. She met her husband Mike in Markdale, Ontario, while she was working in a shoe factory. Mia spent the rest of her life caring for her family and grandchild. Mia enjoyed all kinds of crafts, and in particular, sewing and needlepoint, she was an excellent cook and an avid gardener. Mia will be remembered most for her heartfelt laugh and easygoing nature. A devoted grandmother, her hugs and kisses will be very much missed. Mia passed away at Seven Oaks General Hospital with her family at her side. Her family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff of the ICU and nursing staff of Unit 4 on the 5th floor.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Chapter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada. An online book of condolences may be signed at www.cropo.com
