Obituary of Romona Sylvia-Barbary
Romona Lea Sylvia-Barbary
It is with heartfelt sorrow and everlasting love that the Barbary and Sylvia families announce the passing of Romona on May 1, 2010 with her daughter by her side.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband Jack Barbary of 11 years, daughter Elyshia, mother Gerri, sister Margaret States, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and very good friends.
Romona was predeceased by her father Harold Sylvia in 2004. Romona was employed by Agriculture Canada as Supervisor of Data Integrity. Previously she was the Office Administrator for Sylvia Personal Services. She was Past Worthy Matron of Mizpah Chapter #6 Order of Eastern Star. Romona enjoyed her family and friends. Every fall she would throw the annual family BBQ with her husband Jack. She loved spending Sunday afternoons playing cards with her mother, aunts, cousin and daughter. Her other social love was Wednesday Night Bingo with all the Transcona Bingo Queens. She was also known for her gregarious laugh and someone you could always count on.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude and appreciation for the support and comfort shown during Romona's illness. Special thanks to Dr. Nowrocka and all the Doctors and Nurses at Cancer Care Manitoba, Palliative Care at St. Boniface Hospital, Karen Bodnar, Chris Deeley, Peter Zacharko, Darlene Mc Clure, Peggy Stien, Shirley Upshaw, Pilgrim Baptist Church, the Barretts, Garretts and many more.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cancer Care Research Manitoba.
In Accordance with Ramona's wish cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ramona's life will take place Friday, May 7th 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St.
I would like the memory of me to be a happy one I would like to leave an afterglow of smiles when the day is done I would like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways Of happy times, laughing times and bright sunny days I would like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun Of happy memories I leave behind when the day is done.
A Memorial Tree was planted for Romona
