Obituary of Stanley SZCZURKO
STANLEY SZCZURKO 1933 - 2008
With deep sadness in our hearts we sadly announce the passing of Stanley Szczurko, age 74 at Seven Oaks Hospital, May 9, 2008 surrounded by his loving family.
To mourn his passing Stan is survived by his loving wife, Mildred of 49 � years, two sons Jerry in Winnipeg and Brian in California; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Elsie, John, Sharon, Ron, Susan, Tommy and Daniel; nieces and nephews Karen, Sandra, Rob, Kara, Charissa, Laurie, Alan, Lea, Logan, Richard, Irene, John, Justine, Rhea, Diego Christine, Willem, Michael, Vincent, Margriet, Geoffrey, Zoe, Isaac, Kirsten, Naomi, and Goddaughter Frances.
Stan was predeceased by his mother Palagia; brother Mike; sister-in-law Walja and brother-in-law Joe.
Born in Radymno, Poland in 1933, Stan immigrated to Canada in 1951. He met Mildred in Winnipeg, MB and were married at Holy Ghost Church in 1958. For 40 years Stan worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator in various parts of Manitoba, retiring in 1998. Stan loved children, nature, gardening, flowers, and driving his blue 4x4 truck.
Stan's family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Piotr Czaykowski, Lisa, Denise and Dr. Leylak of CancerCare Manitoba for their three years of genuine, everbearing, excellent care of Stan. Many thanks to Drs. Wilson, Lezack, and Wong, as well as nurses and staff (Dora) 3rd floor, unit 4 of Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and compassion .
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street with an Oblate Father officiating. Ash interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. An online book of condolences may be signed at www.cropo.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stan's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg MB R3E 0V9.
