Obituary of Clarissa TETLOCK

CLARISSA MAY JOYCE TETLOCK It is with deep sadness that Clarissa May Joyce Tetlock (nee Spencer) passed away at the age of 70 on July 18th, 2011 with her loving family at her side. Chriss is survived by her partner Brian Sanduliak and her children: David (Chris), Tom (Andrea), Lianna (Joe), Jackie (Victor), nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Chriss was born on April 28th 1941 in Dauphin, MB. She is predeceased by her parents: Frances Ann and Ernest Cyril Spencer, her sister Hope and brothers Ronald and Louis. In 1985 Chriss Tetlock founded the North End Women's Centre located on Selkirk Avenue and spent over 20 years as the Executive Director. The initial mandate of the Centre was to assist women experiencing family violence and over the years Chriss led the organization in establishing this as a resource centre with a wide range of community based programming for women living in the North End. Chriss also sat on numerous boards and was instrumental in developing other resource centres and received several awards for her community service. Chriss was well loved and respected in the community for her leadership, vision, generosity and kindness. Chriss loved to be surrounded by her family and friends and was most happy when spending time at Winnipeg Beach with her children, grandchildren and family. She loved reading, walking, travelling, music, dancing, family gatherings, jewelry and knic knacs. Chriss was an extremely intelligent woman with a mischievous sense of humour and a caring person who touched the hearts of people who had the privilege of knowing her. As a tribute to Chriss, we encourage you to wear white and your favorite or wacky hat - two things that made Mom smile. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North End Women's Centre. A Celebration of Life will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 11:00am.
