Obituary of Olga Turchen
Olga Turchen
Suddenly, but peacefully left us July 14th, 2011, at the young age of 94, to join her loving husband Jerry who we lost in 1990. She was also predeceased by her sisters Ann and Kay.
She is survived by her son Ken Sr., daughter-in-law Lorraine, grandsons Ken Jr. (Nicole) and Jerry (Rachel) as well as her nieces and nephews.
Mom was born in Winnipeg on June 10, 1917. She grew up and attended school in East Kildonan. Her first job was at Peerless Laundry. She later worked with dad in their business, Washington Cabinet, and for a short time, later in life, at Winnipeg Bank Note. The built a home on Henderson Hwy in 1950, where they lived all their lives. They both loved to travel, Florida, San Diego, Hawaii and especially Arizona. Mom loved company and enjoyed feeding them, she truly loved food.
In the last 2 years she resided at The Golden Door on Pembina Hwy, and since last September at Kinplace Personal Care Home in Oakbank. We would like to thank the staff of both facilities for the care and compassion they showed Olga.
Service will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at 10:00 am, at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, with Right Reverend Msgr. Mitrat Michael Buyachok officiating.
Donations in Olga's memory can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
