Obituary of Nadia Wengier
Nadia Wengier (nee Wownianko) It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mrs. Nadia Wengier on Tuesday May 17, 2011 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Mom was born December 18, 1925 in Borisovka, Ukraine (Berdyansk). There in the Ukraine she met and married John Wengier on January 4th 1942. Mom was predeceased by her 2 precious infant sons Johnny and George, her husband John and by her sister, brother and parents. Left to mourn her passing is her daughter Shirley and son-in-law John Medwid as well as grandchildren Larissa, Tara and Zorian, and also many dear friends. Mom endured many trials and tribulations during the wartime before she came to Canada in 1950. When she first arrived in Canada she became a seamstress then went on to become a hairdresser and she was one very good hairdresser. Mom enjoyed reading and doing word searches and she liked to joke around a lot. She was a very loving and caring Baba to her grandchildren. She deeply adored them spending many happy times with them throughout the years. Mom was a kind and sensitive soul always putting her own needs and wishes aside going out of her way to help and do things for others. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Rest in Peace Baba and be happy. I would also like to thank the compassionate paramedics who came to the scene to help and to all of the wonderful staff at St. Boniface who were so kind and considerate. Thanks also to the Chaplain who gave such a beautiful prayer. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 21 at 11:30 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment in All Saints Cemetery will follow.
