Obituary of Anna Szul)
ANNA WERETYK
(Nee Szul)
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Anna Weretyk in the early morning of August 16, 2011 at the age of 79. Anna leaves to mourn; her loving husband, Emil; her sons John (Virginia) and Michael; her grandchildren, Adam, Jason and Jennifer Weretyk; her cousins, Dr. Michael Szul and Marilyn Richards-McLellan and their respective families, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Anna was born in Selo Dobra in Western Ukraine on June 29, 1932 and came to Canada in 1950 via Grenoble, France and Caracas, Venezuela, settling in Winnipeg and marrying Emil Weretyk on May 23, 1953. When sons, John and Michael were old enough to be on their own, Anna started working as a seamstress and continued to work at various companies until retiring in 1992. During her retirement years, Anna enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and their dog Mick, tending to her gardens, baking, conversing with the neighbours and taking walks with her lifelong friends.
The family would like to thank the 5th floor geriatric medical and support staff at the Grace Hospital for all the care and kindness shown to Anna during her stay.
Viewing will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street on Friday, August 19 at 10:00 a.m. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
