Obituary of Stella Woroniak
STELLA WORONIAK . At the age of 82 Stella Woroniak (Dmytriw), devoted Mother and Baba passed away peacefully on April 28, 2010 in Calgary, AB. She was born on October 3, 1927 to Julia and Lonko Dmytriw in Preeceville, Sask, where she grew up with her 7 sisters and 4 brothers. In 1945, at the age of 17, Stella moved to Winnipeg, MB, where she met and married Fred Woroniak in 1946. They had three children, Robert, Sadie, and Jimmy. She was predeceased by her mother Julia in 1936, father Lonko in 1972, and step-mother Kathrina Hewalo in 1977; her beloved husband Fred in 1958; son Robert in 1995, son Jimmy in 2002; brothers Steve Dmytriw of Porcupine, Bill Dmytriw of Saskatoon; sisters Mary Hanson, Kay Huziak and Ethel Antonio of Preeceville, Anne Shpak and Pauline Marchuk of Toronto, Olga Kwasney of Porcupine, and Lena Baron of Castlegar, BC. Stella will be deeply missed by her daughter Sadie (Roman) Anisimovicz of Calgary, AB; six grandchildren Michael (Vanessa) Anisimovicz of Calgary, Kathryn (Jon) Pittis of Calgary, Monique Woroniak of Winnipeg, Sean (Sarah) Woroniak of Winnipeg, Mark and Paul Woroniak, daughter-in-law Lorna Woroniak of Winnipeg and her two special great grand children, Nicholas and Julianna Anisimovicz; her two brothers Mike (Alice) Dmytriw of Saskatoon and Morris (Helen) Dmytriw of Vernon, BC; sister-in-law Pauline Bohonis and numerous nephews and nieces. Mom was very devoted to her family, holding family dinners, making perogies and borscht for her grandchildren and teaching card games. Mom was a very strong willed and hard working person, She devoted many years of service to the Holy Family Home, until she retired in 1992. She was also an active member for the UCWL at the BVM church. In 2002 Stella moved from Winnipeg to Calgary to be closer to her daughter and family. She spent her last 5 years at the Hillcrest Extendicare Home in Calgary. We would like to offer our thanks to the Hillcrest Extendicare staff who were very supportive over the past 5 years. Prayers will be said on Thursday, May 6 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, followed by Divine Liturgy at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 965 Boyd Avenue on Friday, May 7 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stella's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. VICHNAYA PAM'YAT
