Annie YARMIE

Obituary of Annie YARMIE

ANNIE YARMIE August 6, 1912 - July 26, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Annie Yarmie on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the Holy Family Home, with the family at her side. Mom was predeceased by her parents Hrynko and Natalka Podolsky, her husband Alex, son Peter, two sisters Barbara and Mary, two brothers John and Mike, son-in-law Gabriel, daughter-in-law Jean. She leaves to mourn her passing, her only daughter Marusia Girard, her eldest son Michael, sister Nancy, brother Peter, daughter-in-law Nettie, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mom was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. What a generous, compassionate, and sympathetic person she was!!! She was a lady of very strong faith and conviction, with high moral standards…warm and most hospitable, always welcoming family, friends and neighbors into their home, whether for Christmas, Easter or any other Sunday dinner...her homemade bread, cinnamon buns, pyrohy, and holubtsy were beyond compare. For many years, her garden and flower beds were her pride and joy. The watermelons in her garden would rival any of those that we now purchase at any store. Mom's pantry shelves were always well stocked with an assortment of jams, jellies and fruit...how she enjoyed berry picking. Mom was born in 1912 and matured during the terrible Depression years of the 1930's, life was always a challenge because money was so scarce…. Thanks to God that the chickens were good egg producers and that the cows were excellent milk and cream producers, thus providing a meager income. Mom especially enjoyed her residency at Holy Family Home where she faithfully attended the religious services in the chapel. Our family owes a great debt of gratitude to the entire staff of Holy Family Home, Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate, the doctors and the entire staff of St. Francis Ward. What a marvelous group of very dedicated people that treated our mom with the utmost of loving care. At times it seemed to us that the staff of St. Francis ward had adopted mom as their own. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1500 Day Street (Transcona) with Very Rev. Wasyl Wasyliw officiating. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Robert Girard, Ernie Kozak, Rick Petrowski, Glen Podolsky, Michael Yarmie, and Mitchell Yarmie. Honorary Pallbearers will be granddaughters Cindy Nault and Marguerite Yarmie, grandson Gerry Girard and great-grandchildren Jennah Bullaro, Gerald Bullaro, and Jeremiah Yarmie. We will always love you and miss you and hold you forever in our hearts knowing that you are now at peace with God. VICHNAYA PAM'YAT CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
