Obituary of Alice Zaluski
Alice (Elsie) Zaluski Nee Bazarynski The family is saddened to announce the passing of Alice Zaluski, beloved wife of Alexander, on Sunday April 27, 2008 at Health Sciences Centre at the age of 80 years. Alice was born in Bifrost, Manitoba (Arborg) on March 26, 1928. The family moved to Meleb where she grew up and went to Park School. At the age of sixteen, she left the farm to work in Winnipeg for a number of years and for two years in Montreal. In 1950 she returned to Meleb and married Alex on October 27, 1951. They moved to Winnipeg to raise a family. Mom worked as a seamstress at numerous sewing factories and Interior Drapery for 20 years. In Winnipeg, she was a member of St. John Cantius Church and in Meleb, St Michael's R.C. Church. In retirement, she helped with the restoration of the church in Meleb and enjoyed time at the farm. Mom was very kind-hearted and loved to entertain with family and friends - no one ever went home hungry. One of her favorite past times was gardening and with Dad won recognition in the Burrows Central Residents Council 1st Annual Gardening competition in 2006. Alice will be missed by her husband of 56 years, Alex Zaluski, children Vikki (Dick Beyak), Robert (Gail) Zaluski, Eileen (Randy Dola) and Jeff Zaluski. Grandchildren Nina (Paul) Manning, Jocelyn Beyak, Lisa Zaluski, Michael and Sean Dola, great-grandchildren Owen and Tia Manning and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Peter & Antonina Bazarynski, sisters Anne (Alex) Telewiak, Jean (Glen) Kyle, Michalena (Bill) Zagonchuk, Nettie (Alex) Parent, Tina Barnes, brother Steve (Ethel) Bazarynski and granddaughter Tara Roberta Zaluski. The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at the Health Sciences General Hospital, 4th floor M.I.C.U. who took care of Mom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alice's name to the Health Sciences Centre Foundation or a charity of your choice.
