Obituary of CZESLAW (CHESTER) JEGIER
CZESLAW (CHESTER) JEGIER
December 20, 1926 – October 19, 2011
Peacefully in his sleep our beloved father and Dziadzu passed away on what would have been his 54th wedding anniversary.
Czeslaw is survived by his beloved daughter Christine (Ron) and two precious grandsons Dustin and Braydn; three sisters-in-law Victoria Piotrowski, Julia Nawankiewicz and Mary Wnuk; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Frances in 2007; parents Wladyslaw and Stefania; sisters Wanda and Irene Jegier in 1941.
Czeslaw was born in Poland. He served in World War II with the Allied Forces, receiving many different medals. After the war he immigrated to Canada in 1947, making Winnipeg his home. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion #246. In 1957 he married Frances Wnuk. His main priority was making sure his family was safe and provided for. After more than 22 1/2 years working for T.Eaton and Co. he retired in 1991. His second home was his garden where he spent most of his time, taking great pride in his tomatoes. He loved spending time with family and friends, whether it was playing cards or just having a visit. A sparkle in his eye could always be seen when he visited his grandsons. He enjoyed watching sports on TV and was a Jack of all trades.
Prayers will be said on Sunday, October 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 24 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church, 365 Burrows Avenue with Rev. Fr. Ted Czelen. Interment to follow in St. Mary’s Polish National Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Simkin Centre for all their love and everlasting friendships which they always expressed.
