Obituary of Marion Smoley
Marion Smoley
February 27, 1928 - August 31, 2011
On August 31, 2011, Marion Smoley, beloved wife/mother/grandmother and great-grandmother peacefully passed away at age 83.
Besides her husband Peter, she is survived by her four sons: Ronald (Sylvia); Doug (Joanne); John and Gerry (Joyce). Grandchildren are Greg, Chris, Daniel, Brian, Kimberly, David, Jeff and Kevin with great-grandchild Xavier.
Left to cherish her memory are her sisters Katherine, Mabel, Lorraine and brother Harry. She was predeceased by her parents Harry and Ann Panaschuk and her sister Joan.
Marion was born in St. Andrews, MB, married Peter in 1951 and worked their farm in Walkleyburg until 1957. They eventually moved to Winnipeg where mom worked for Eaton’s and eventually retired with Revenue Canada.
Mom was a loving supportive person who cared for all, putting her love for her husband and family before herself. She always had time for family. She was an active person who enjoyed outdoor activities, travelling, dancing, fishing, cooking for family, staying at the cottage and finding time to draw pictures. Her compelling smile was infectious and her warm hearted approach to life made your visit memorable. You always left with a full stomach and were welcomed to come back again.
The family would like to thank the Staff and Volunteers of Middlechurch Home (Deer 2) and the Nurses and Doctors of Seven Oaks Hospital for their compassion and care.
A Memorial Service will be held 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, Sept 6, 2011 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with family friend Maurice Yurkiw officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marion’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
