Obituary of JAROSLAW SYCH
JAROSLAW "RUSS" SYCH
On Sunday, September 11, 2011, with his family by his side, Jaroslaw "Russ" Sych passed away at the age of 79 years. Russ is survived by his loving wife, Marie-Rose; daughter Darlene (Tom); granddaughter Taylor; his sister Larice "Lasha"; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by his mother, Anna Sych (2005) and father Paul Sych (1975).
Russ was born in Winnipeg on February 27th, 1932. At the age of 17 he began working for the Canadian National Railway (CN) as a Carman at the Transcona shops. Russ retired from CN in at the age of 54 in 1986 with 37 years of service.
In 1971 Russ met the love of his life, Marie-Rose, who would become his life long partner and friend. They spent many years camping, fishing, and hunting together as Russ was an avid hunter and fisherman. Shortly after their marriage in 1972 their daughter, Darlene was born (1974). In 2004 Russ become a grandfather to a lovely little lady, Taylor Alexandria. Taylor would be the star in Grandpa's eye, as he was in hers. Russ also had a great love of animals, most notably his favorite dogs, Bijoux, Rocky and Bailey.
Russ spent his final moments with his wife, sister and daughter by his side. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the N1 North staff at Concordia Hospital for their compassionate care and support of our beloved husband, father and brother over the past months. Your kindness was greatly appreciated and did not go unnoticed.
A celebration of Russ's life will be held on Wednesday September 21st, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Russ's brothers-in-law; Lucien Brule and Ron Vanderkerkhove.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Russ’s memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
