Obituary of JEAN MACIBORIC

JEAN OLGA MACIBORIC (nee Wojcik) Peacefully in her home, she called her 'Crystal Palace', Mom passed away Friday, September 16, 2011. Jean was born in Charbenoweca, Poland March 26, 1928. She immigrated to Canada at the age of 8 with her mom and younger sister Estelle. She grew up in the Point Douglas area and attended Daniel MacIntyre High School. She married the love of her life, Peter William Maciboric, July 22, 1950. Jean and Peter were blessed with five children and they embraced all the joys of family life. Jean was predeceased by her husband Peter and parents Mary and John Wojcik. Widowed at the tender age of 50, Mom was a true champion. Her life was her family and her family was her life. Mom had so much love for her children and grandchildren always saying "I love you to the Moon". Jean is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children Sharon (Richard), Lorraine (Richard), Kris (Bob), Donna (Ric) and Stan (Tracy). Mom’s brightest moments were attending everything for her endearing grandchildren, Davis, Paul, Alexander, Catherine, Kyle, Kory, Jenna, Kurt, Lucas, Carmen, Ashlei, and Jesse. She will be missed by her two sisters Estelle Janas, Hedy Thiessen and Aunt Zofia Mucha, many nieces, nephews, neighbors and dear friends also "lifetime" girlfriend Bunny Kaywood of Chicago, Illinois. Jean had a passion for her garden, flowers and loved spending countless hours on her patio. Her grandchildren loved her famous Babcia doughnuts. Jean was an active member of Catholic Women League, St. John Cantius and Holy Ghost Fraternity. Jean volunteered at Seven Oaks General Hospital, Age and Opportunity, enjoyed her Bingo and Casino evenings with her circle of special friends. Mom loved to travel and was so proud of taking her four daughters to her birthplace, Poland. Together Mom had many enjoyable family vacations, numerous train trips through-out North America and holidays to Hawaii and Las Vegas. Jean left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Mom knew how to live each and every enjoyable moment as if it were her last. Her greatest joy was her family. The love she had for her family grew stronger over the years and her family returned that love and care when she needed us the most. Her spirit will live on, in all of us. The family wishes to thank Dr. Sheila Domke for her compassion during this journey. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery.
