Obituary of GERTRUDE RICHTSCHEID
Gertrud Richtscheid
It is with sad hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Gertrud Richtscheid on Monday, September 19, 2011.
Gertrud will be forever missed by her dear son Ed, his wife Kimberly and their children Georgia and Jackson. Also left to mourn her passing, her sister Hilde and niece Brigitta Milbrandt as well as numerous friends and extended family.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Ed and son Tom as well as her two brothers, twin sister and sister in law.
Gertrud was born in Germany in 1929 and moved to Winnipeg with her family in 1952. It was here that she met her future husband Ed Richtscheid. They were married in 1959. First son Ed was born in 1960. The family then decided to move to beautiful California but this was short lived and they returned to Winnipeg and settled in East Kildonan on Greene Ave. A second son Tom was born in 1965.
Gertrud was a loving and dedicated mother. She was also a wonderful cook. It was through her cooking that she discovered that she could also help support her family and took up catering. She catered many special events for some very lucky families in Winnipeg.
She loved her two beautiful grandchildren most of all. She was so proud of their accomplishments and loved to spend one on one time with them whenever she could.
As her health deteriorated she became more frail and unable to get around. But she still enjoyed a good cheese burger at Kelekis’s with her grandchildren.
A short memorial service and reception is planned for Friday, September 23, 2011 at 12 noon in the Rose Room at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will follow after the reception.
