Obituary of NICHOLAS JAMAN

NICHOLAS “NICK” JAMAN It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our husband and father Nicholas Jaman, on December 17, 2013, at Seven Oaks General Hospital. Nick will be forever remembered by his loving wife of 53 years, Stella, their only daughter Nicolette, brother Peter Jaman, numerous cousins, and dearly loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John Elijah and Anastasia Jaman, his sisters Mary, Violet, Lily, Kaye, and Sophie, and brothers William, Alexander, and John. Nick was born on July 14, 1930 near Sundown Manitoba where he was the second youngest of ten children. He had a very intuitive mind especially when it came to anything mechanical, which led him to employment with Steep Rock Iron Mines, Powell Equipment, and also Ray-O-Vac where he was a quality control specialist. In his later years he joined the real estate firm of Block Bros. Nick was also a self-taught man of many talents. Whether you needed a mechanic, plumber, electrician, herbalist, musician, or gardener, Nick was your man. Nick was a member of St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church for 38 years and was actively involved in the Men's Club and through the years spent much time volunteering at Thursday night Bingo and other church activities. Dad was a family man and always put "his girls" first. He looked forward to our annual road trips and especially spending time at Florida's Gulf Coast, always managing to include a sneaky side trip to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. He also enjoyed spending time with his coffee buddies, engaging in debates in whatever the "hot" topic is of the day. Dad loved watching the Blue Jays, the Leafs, and of course the Jets and was a huge fan of all our Canadian teams. The family wishes to thank all the Fathers at St. Joseph's, especially Fr. Bohdan, for their numerous visits to our home and the hospital. A big thank you to Dr. C. Polimeni for her many years of dedicated care and patience. Dr. J. Gingerich and the entire team at CancerCare for their commitment to Dad's well being. The incredible staff at Seven Oaks Hospital especially Dr. Abbott, Val, and Jennifer for their utmost compassion and care during Dad's last few hours. A big thank you to the Palliative Care and Home Care teams. You are all very special to us! Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, December 21 at 10:00a.m. at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Family Cemetery, 4355 Main St. If so desired, donations can be made in Nick's memory to CancerCare Manitoba or St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church Decorating Fund.
