(nee Westfal)
November 14, 1924 -December 25, 2013
Monika passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 89 years.
Left to mourn is her son, Jon. Also left to mourn is her sister-in-law Helena; nieces Ewa, Iwona, nephews, Richard, Alex, Bogdon and Adam; brother Henry Westfal all living in Poland; also Pani Sharon Rybuck and Helen (Pietkiewicz) Cerasani (Goddaughter) who were very close to Mom and dear friends Albert (Toni) Kananowicz and Ben Pietkiewicz (deceased) and also good friend of the family, our lawyer Gord Katelnikoff.
She was predeceased by her husband Boleslaw on February 22, 2008; her parents, her brother-in-law Ed and her nephew Stanislaw Waluk.
Monika was born in Poland. She met Tatus in Canada after WWII and was married on October 23, 1948; this is where she raised her family. Mom worked in different hospitals in Winnipeg, was also a cleaner and cooked at the Legion #246. Once Mom had her stroke she was unable to attend the Legion where she was one of the original nine members of the Ladies Auxiliary along with Pani Josie Pietkiewicz. (last surviving member).
Special thanks to Ken Rogocki and Helen Vance who were a great help to Mama and Tatus when they were alive. Thanks also to the home care staff Margaret, Arleen and Jossie and to the Doctor Stan Szajkowski and staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, 3rd floor, unit 5 especially nurse Apple-she was Mom’s Angel.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, officiating will be Pastor Chuck Sheridan from the House of the Rising Son and Rev. Fr. Ceas Chmiel. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers will be William Ridgwell, Grant (J.D.) Irwin, Ron (Snoopy) Hayden, Charlie Ruggles, Wayne Schellenberg and Pastor Gavin Coyle.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Mama, we will miss you and you will always be with us.
