Obituary of WANDA LUCYNA CHMIELOWICZ
WANDA LUCYNA CHMIELOWICZ
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Wanda Lucyna Chmielowicz on the morning of January 23rd, 2014. Just as the morning star appeared, Wanda died peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She is predeceased by her father Kazimierz and sister Maria. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Anastasia, mother Alina, sisters Barbara (Ron), Irena (Cress), and Helena; nieces and nephews Jennifer, Kristina, Kimberly, Krystofer, Jonathan and Nicole; grand nieces and nephews Kaylee, Anglin, Juna, Chloe and Donovan; Uncle Jim (Michelle) and Uncle Bill; and extended family in Montreal and Poland.
Wanda was born and raised in Winnipeg where she spent most of her life. She graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Arts degree focusing on English Literature. Wanda loved the arts, astronomy, writing, cooking, travel and the outdoors. She also enjoyed her volunteer work at Holy Family Nursing home and Artbeat Studio. Wanda loved to spend time at the family cottage in Big Whiteshell Lake where many friends and memories were made. We will always remember the countless days and nights she spent star gazing and watching sunrises, sunsets and the northern lights.
Wanda was devoted to her daughter and family. Those who knew her were touched by her kind and generous nature. She will forever be remembered as a gentle soul.
Wanda was admired for the way she met life's challenges with grace and dignity. In recent years, she faced cancer with inspiring strength and optimism. The family would like to thank Father Dominic Yuen, Father Sam Argenziano, Dr. Jeremy Gordon and the staff at both CancerCare Manitoba and WRHA Palliative Care Program who attended Wanda and her family with such great care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Artbeat Studio Inc., 204 943-5194, www.artbeatstudio.ca.
