Obituary of MICHAEL ANDREW ZWARICH
MICHAEL ANDREW ZWARICH
1926 – 2014
Following a short illness, Michael Andrew Zwarich passed away on January 29, 2014, at the age of 87.
Michael will be dearly missed by his daughters Nancy and Gail, son David (Penny), grandchildren Elizabeth, Kane and Levi.
Michael was predeceased by his wife Muriel (nee Wawrynuik) in 2009 after 58 years of marriage, his daughter Donna in 2007, his parents and siblings.
Michael was born in rural Fenwood (6-24-08-2), Saskatchewan on November 12, 1926. His early life on the farm established an interest in agriculture that continued throughout his life.
Michael completed high school at St. Joseph's College in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. He continued his education at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. While in Saskatoon, Michael met his future wife Muriel. They were married on October 23, 1951.
Soon after they were married, Michael and Muriel moved to New Jersey where Michael attended graduate school at Rutgers University. In August 1955, Michael received his PhD from Rutgers.
In 1956 Michael joined the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences at the University of Manitoba. Michael was a professor there until his retirement in 1994.
Michael enjoyed watching hockey, baseball and, of course, the Saskatchewan Rough Riders. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus and a long time parishioner at Holy
Family Ukrainian Catholic Church on Grant Avenue, Winnipeg.
Michael was a quiet and gentle man who will be sadly missed by his family, friends and neighbors.
