Obituary of EDWARD BUCHKO
EDWARD BUCHKO
On February 12, 2014, Edward passed away at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 81 years.
Edward leaves to mourn his loving wife of 61 years, Joan (Arnold); four children, Grant (Karen), Gayle (Keith), Glenn (Chris) and Garth (Lesley), eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Edward was born on September 3, 1932 and attended Gordon Bell High School, where he excelled at football, baseball, hockey, soccer and in later years curling and golf. One of his proudest achievements occurred on July 15, 1951while playing Junior League baseball for River Heights - he pitched a no hit - no run game. In addition he had a passion for music, playing the violin, organ and saxophone. He was also in the school opera and a member of the North Central Senior Association and Child Care program.
He joined the Police Force on October 19, 1953 and retired on June 6, 1987 as a Staff Inspector after 34 years of service.
Special thanks from the Buchko family to the staff of H4 and H7 of the Health Sciences Centre for their special care and support during this difficult time.
A Gathering will be held on Friday, February 21 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
