Obituary of JOAO DA COSTA TELES

JOAO DA COSTA TELES January 6, 1927 – March 9, 2014 After a lengthy battle with cancer Joao passed away at the Grace Hospice on Sunday, March 9 at the age of 87 with his family by his side. He is predeceased by his wife Maria da Luz (2013) brothers Antonio and Eduardo, sister Laudalina. Joao is survived by his sons John Manuel (Annette), Altino (Zoila) and daughter Maria (Tajinder). He will be remembered by his grandchildren Destiny, Matthew, Gabriela, Sarmina and Emmitt. Joao was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal and immigrated to Canada in 1957. He retired from the Canadian National Railway in 1992. He enjoyed watching hockey and spending time outdoors. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Grace Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or Grace Hospice.
