Obituary of LUDMILA WIERZBICKI
LUDMILA WIERZBICKI
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Ludmila Wierzbicki, in Calgary, on March 7, 2014. She was 86 years old. She has joined her husband Michal, who predeceased her on Nov 29, 2000. She was also predeceased by her parents Julia and Teodor and her brothers and sisters.
Ludmila was born in Poland in 1927 and immigrated to Winnipeg in 1963 with her husband and 2 daughters, Anna and Halina. In Winnipeg, Michal and Ludmila worked very hard to provide for their family. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, a talented woman who liked sewing, knitting, cooking and gardening. She loved to read and was always interested in and supported many Polish initiatives. Her family and their happiness always came first and she made many sacrifices to fulfill this, always with a smile. After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2001, Ludmila moved to Calgary to be close to her daughter Anna. Even with her sickness, she managed to live a full and active life for many years. She will be greatly missed by her daughters Anna, husband Michael Powroznik of Calgary and grandson Mark, and Halina, husband Alexander Nawrocki of Poland and grandchildren Andrew, Natalia, husband Pawel Paszkowski, and Christopher. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends in Poland, Russia, Winnipeg and Calgary.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Andrew Bobola Church, 541 Marion Street, Winnipeg, on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 9:00 AM. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery.
