HELEN CAROLYN BURTNICK
(NEE KOWALSKI)
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished mother, Helen Carolyn on March 13, 2014.
Mom is survived by her children Barbara Anastasia, Walter John (Thelma), Victor Gregory (Kathy), Vincent Paul (Bernadette), seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mom is also survived by nephews Robert (Virginia) Kowalski and Richard (Carol) Kowalski and niece Linda Marciniew and many other nephews, nieces and cousins.
Mom was predeceased by parents Michael Kowalski and Anastasia Kowalski (Nee Krysztalowicz), two brothers Wojtek and William Kowalski and granddaughter Eva Burtnick
Mom was born and lived in Winnipeg all of her life. Mom was extremely talented, had many interests and held many jobs during her life. She was especially proud of her work with the federal government and the provincial courts. Mom was a member of the Manitoba Folk Dancers and the St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave. on Wednesday, March 19 at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Frank Szadiak, CSsR officiating
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s memory to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 215 Seniors Section, Good Neighbours Senior Centre, or an animal Rescue Shelter of your choice.
