Obituary of RAYMOND WALTER MAZUR
RAYMOND WALTER MAZUR
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather Raymond Walter Mazur on April 24, 2014.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Peggy (nee Sentla) and his three sons; Ken, Kurt (Shanna), Rob (Rosa) and grandchildren Mitchell, Seren, Kate and Katelyn (grandpa’s dancing partner); brother to Morris (Irene), Helen Chercoe (Ron), and Phillip (Margaret), brother-in-law to Jack Sentla (Eileen).
Raymond was born on August 16, 1938, in Melrose, Manitoba, to Thomas and Julia Mazur (Chapko). Ray worked at Bristol Aerospace, Western Engine Works, Steinbach Secondary Regional School. He retired from Kildonan East Regional Secondary School where he worked as a welding instructor and work education coordinator.
Ray was a very talented and creative person. He enjoyed working with stained glass, wood carvings and was very gifted in doing mechanical repairs. Ray was very active with the Knights of Columbus and valued his church friends and community. He loved to be involved in the kitchen for functions and also enjoyed decorating the church with the altar society.
Ray was a very gentle man who rarely said no and always wore a smile. He loved golf, hunting, fishing and building a cottage with Peggy and his sons. In his retirement, he loved to winter in Mesa, Arizona. Ray was very happy in life and appreciated all that he encountered with gratitude.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Parish, 250 Burrin Avenue.
We will all miss him dearly, especially Peggy whom he always took such good care of.
He will forever be in our hearts.
