Obituary of ROSALIE VERNA HALUSHKA

ROSALIE VERNA HALUSHKA It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rosalie on May 7, 2014 at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 79 years. Rosalie is survived by sisters–law Annie Antonishyn, Angie (Harry) Koroll, Helen Halushka brother-in-law Tony Novak, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband Russell and her parents Jacob and Annie. Rosalie was born on October 2, 1934 in St. Boniface and lived in Sarto, Dufrost and Winnipeg. She taught school in rural Manitoba for two years then took her nursing training at the General Hospital. After graduation she worked in public health in rural Manitoba. She moved to Toronto to work at the Toronto Sick Children’s Hospital and the Milton District Hospital and then VON in Toronto. They returned to Winnipeg and Rosalie worked at the Health Sciences Centre until retirement. Rosalie was caregiver for her parents until they passed away. She loved nature including birds and animals. Later she joined many senior groups which kept her very busy. Thanks to the wonderful staff on 3E at Riverview Health Centre for their care and compassion. Also thanks to family and friends who took time to visit Rosalie. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rosalie’s memory to Golden West Lodge or the Palliative Care Unit at Riverview Health Centre.
