Obituary of MARIA ZIELINSKI
MARIA ZIELINSKI
(1926-2014)
Maria, Mom, Babcia passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 7th, 2014, at Holy Family Home, at the age of 87 years.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband Tadeusz of 60 years, their son Jerzy (Diane) and grandsons David (Tammy), Andrew (Sarah), Sean, Jeffrey (Jill) and Christopher; daughter Helen and granddaughter Jenessa; and son Greg (Anjanette) and granddaughter Melodie; and four great grandchildren Charlee, Matthew, Elle and Rooney.
Maria was born in Poland on November 8th, 1926. She was displaced to Germany during the Second World War, following which she moved to Rochdale, England. There she met Tadeusz and after a brief courtship, they married on July 4th, 1953. A year later, after the birth of their first son, they moved to Canada and settled in Winnipeg.
Babcia was a warm and generous homemaker who was wise, gentle, and loved and adored by all who knew her. Family and faith were the centre of her life. Babcia and Dziadzia shared an enduring love marked by their devotion. She sacrificed for her children so they would never be without. She was active in the Catholic Women’s League and served two terms as President. When her children were grown, Maria worked part-time at Eaton’s, where she loved to shop. She enjoyed crochet, knitting, needlepoint, dancing, gardening and going for walks with Dziadzia. Babcia was a wonderful cook and no one left her home hungry.
The family thanks the staff of St. Paul’s Unit, Holy Family Home, for the wonderful care during her stay. We will always remember the kindness, compassion and warmth showed to Babcia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 13th at 10 am at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave with an Oblate Father as Celebrant. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sister Servants of Mary Immaculate (operating as Holy Family Home) or to Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church. We love you forever Babcia.
“Wherever I will be, I will be with you all.”
