RAYMOND GERALD JOSEPH DESJARDINS
Peacefully on October 25, 2011 at the Seven Oaks Hospital, Ray, age of 84, passed away after a courageous battle from a stroke, with his family by his side.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Rose, his 2 sons, Gerald (Andrea) and Larry, grandchildren Eric, Ashley, Kyle and Tiana. He leaves to mourn, sister Mae. He has many nieces and nephews from MB, BC, ON, Minneapolis and Virgina. His father Joseph, mother Bibiane, brothers, Fred, Jules, Louis, and sisters Blanche, Claudia, Lou, Gay, Jean, and Terry predeceased him.
Ray enjoyed his many years as a retail grocery sales counselor with the Codville Company until his retirement in 1992. Ray joined the Lions Club in 1966 in Boissevain, MB. During his 45 years of service, Ray held numerous positions throughout the club and received many service awards including the Melvin Jones Fellowship, which is the highest honor a member can receive for humanitarian services. In addition, Ray was the District Governor from 1994 – 95.
Ray and Rose loved traveling, casino trips, spending numerous years at the cottage at Gull Lake, MB. He loved his quality time with his friends and family, dinner outings, and movie dates with his soul mate for 55 years, Rose. He was proud of his sons’ achievements, his grandchildren’s school accomplishments, and Teejay the search dogs’ weekly training.

As per Ray’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held to honor Ray’s life on Wednesday, November 2nd at 10:30, at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. A private family interment will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
