Grandson Cory (Ginger), great-granddaughter Kinley and grandson Geoffrey. Daughter-in-law Joan (John) – Whiterock and grandchildren Bob (Shirley) Ottawa and great-granddaughter Katie, grandson Don (Vancouver), daughter-in-law Connie (Bill) Winnipeg, grandchildren Jared (Jennifer) Vancouver, great- grandchildren, Auria and Zev. Grandson Jay (Michelle) Winnipeg and great-granddaughter Tatum, granddaughter Jennifer (Radek) Winnipeg and great-grandchildren, Alex and Sophia.
George was predeceased by his loving wife Annie in 1987; his son John February 2014, his son Bill in March 2002, and his grandson Jeff in 2000. George was also predeceased by his parents, John and Katerina; his sister Maria; a brother Dan; and a half brother Bill. As well, sisters-in-law, Olga and Elsie; and brothers-in-law, Bill and George. Dad’s long time friend Emily Balowka also predeceased him three years ago.
Dad was born in 1912 in Western Ukraine and arrived in Winnipeg as a 16 year old. He married Anne and had three sons, John, Gerry and Bill. He worked for the Canadian National Railway and retired as a machinist at 65 years of age. His love of fishing started as a young boy, and he kept this love right until his passing. His two best fishing partners Bill Feschuk and Nick Babiuk have been waiting for their partner for many years, but all are probably already scouting out their favorite spots on the Winnipeg River at Pointe Du Bois.
Funeral services will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street at Luxton Avenue in Winnipeg commencing at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2014, with interment following at Elmwood cemetery.
Dad would like to thank his friends at Kildonan Home for visiting and staying in touch. Your visits and calls were the highlight of his day.
