Obituary of MARIA MEDEIROS
MARIA (LUISA) AMARAL CORREIA MEDEIROS
April 15, 1951 – May 5, 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Maria Luisa Medeiros on May 5th, 2012 at her home.
Luisa will be deeply missed by her loving husband José Manuel, her four children Henrique (Tammy), Richard (Melissa), Darcy (Sarah) and Cristina; her sister Conceiçao Raposo (Guilherme) and brothers João Fontes, Henrique Fontes, Manuel Domingos Correia and Antonio Francisco Fontes. She also leaves behind her uncle Henrique Amaral (Fernanda), mother-in-law Juliana as well as extended family. Luisa was predeceased by her parents Maria Margarida Amaral and José de Fontes Correia as well as brothers José Maria Correia and Antonio Domingos Fontes.
Luisa was born April 15, 1951 in Ponta Garça, São Miguel, Açores. She married the love of her life on September 6, 1975. Shortly after, Luisa and José moved to Winnipeg to start their family life. She will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family.
The family would like to thank the GH4 ward staff at the Health Sciences Centre for their compassionate care. Also, a special thanks to the nurses and health care aides of the Palliative Home Care program for their loving help and support.
Prayers will be held on Wednesday, May 9th at 6:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church located at 181 Austin Street N. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 10th at 10:00a.m. also at the Church. Luisa will be laid to rest at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue.
