I was so sad to hear about John's passing. We grew up together in Thunder Bay and went to school and worked at Shaw Baking company together. He was a true friend and I will miss him dearly. I was glad to see him one last time before he passed. My deepest sympathies to Sylvia, the girls, and Dan and his family. I have very fond memories of John and felt honoured to be John's friend. Til we meet again. Teuvo and Peggy Helenius

Dear Silvia & girls: Please accept our condolence on the loss of John. So glad that we had that visit last summer. Murray & I treasured our time we spent with John in university. Will treasure the time the four of us spent cross country skiing. Will keep you in our prayers, love, Linda, Murray & Robert.

Dear Silvia and family please accept my heartfelt sympathies in this time of sorrow. I was saddened to hear of the passing of John. We were childhood friends. John was one of those few people that I could call a true friend. It was good to see John once again when he came to visit in Thunder Bay recently. We were able to reminisce about the past and the many good times we shared. John showed me pictures of his trip to Croatia with Silvia and the garden he planted in his back yard, a new found hobby. John was a kind and generous man. I have many fond memories of visiting John and his family in Winnipeg. I will miss him dearly. God Bless. Rest in Peace my friend.

I wish to offer my sincerest condolences to Silvia and the three daughters on your premature loss of a good husband and a dear father. John's father arrived to Thunder Bay, (Port Arthur) in the early fifties, as did my father, and ever since our two families have maintained a close bond. Enjoyed seeing John when he made his recent visit to Thunder Bay, although the circumstances for him were very difficult. May his soul rest in peace.

Silvia and girls - we are so sorry to hear about your loss. John was a very special person. When I met him in TBay he welcomed me like we had known each other forever. He always had a smile and words of wisdom to share. He was a true friend.

I always enjoyed John's visits to Wanipigow school. Conversations with him always made you think, not only about the students that you worked with but about life in general. John always made you look at issues from various points of view and always had valuable insights into what makes a human being tick. He will be missed by both the staff and the students that he helped.

We have known John since moving to Waterhen in 1992. Not only was he a colleague but also a friend. We will miss his monthly visits where we spent many hours talking about the needs of our students. He helped us out in so many ways including personal issues. So very sorry for your loss.
