Obituary of NORMAN ARCHER ANDERSON

NORMAN ARCHER ANDERSON Peacefully on Saturday, July 19th Norman Anderson was called home at the age of 84 years. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Karen (Edwin) Andreychuk of Flin Flon; son Kim (Thora) Anderson of Winnipeg, grandson’s Garrett and Brayden (Emily) Anderson (Thunder Bay); special friend Margaret Tonn, as well as sister’s Edith (Bill) Hardy; Peggy (Al) McKay and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years, Diane (nee Gauthier); and sister Beth (Kinnear). Dad was born in Elm Creek, MB on December 3, 1929. He was born to Alfred & Matilda Anderson. He loved to share the memories with us of his younger years on the farm. He was always very athletic, and had a passion for the game of hockey. At the age of 15, he was playing for the Boissevain Juvenile “B” hockey team and won the Manitoba Championship. Shortly thereafter, he was drafted to the Detroit junior team , although opted to continue his life long career at Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting in Flin Flon, MB. It was there that he met Mom in 1956 and they were married, December 2, 1957. They loved to water ski and hike at the many beautiful lakes in the area, and built their life raising Karen & Kim. Dad retired from HBM&S after 43 years, and enjoyed a few years of retirement with Mom travelling to Kelowna, BC during the winters. He and Mom moved into Winnipeg in 1991, where they spent their last years together. A “Celebration of Life” will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, on Friday, July 25th , 2:00p.m. Interment to follow at a later date in Elm Creek Cemetery. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the beautiful staff at Nova Vista Lodge. Their care and support to our Dad was truly exceptional. Don't think of him as gone away his journey's just begun, life holds so many facets this earth is only one. Just think of him as resting from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years. Think how he must be wishing that we could know today how nothing but our sadness can really pass away. And think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched... for nothing loved is ever lost and he was loved so much. “Rest in Peace Our Dad, Grandpa, Brother & Uncle... You will Forever be Remembered and in Our Hearts!”
