Obituary of STEFAN GAWRON
STEFAN (STEVE) GAWRON
Peacefully on July 21, 2014, Stefan Gawron passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 90 years.
Dad will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughters Ursula, Helen (Henry); son John (Tina); grandsons Dominic, Anthony (Nicole), Jonathon. Also left to mourn his passing is one sister and many family members in Poland and two nieces in Toronto.
Stefan was predeceased by his wife Mary; four brothers and one sister.
Dad was born August 10, 1923 in Czestochowa, Poland. He left Poland at a young age to work in Germany, prior to the outbreak of the war. In Germany he met our mom Mary and there they were married. Shortly after, they welcomed their daughter Ursula. Stefan came to Canada in 1949 to work in Portage la Prairie. His wife and daughter joined him in 1950. They decided to come to Winnipeg in 1956. In the years to follow, two more children were born, Helen and John.
Stefan worked at Misericordia Hospital until his retirement. Dad enjoyed gardening, but he especially enjoyed the time spent fishing with mom. He was also very proud of his grandsons and enjoyed their company and their achievements. Our dad was a faithful parishioner of Holy Ghost Parish.
The family would like to thank the staff on the 4th and 5th floors at Seven Oaks Hospital.
Viewing will be held on Friday, July 25 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. with an Oblate Father as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery.
