Obituary of LOUIS ROGER JOSEPH PRAIRIE
LOUIS ROGER JOSEPH PRAIRIE
It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of Louis Prairie on October 25, 2011. Louis was survived by his loving wife Phyllis (step-daughter Brenda), "adopted daughter" Tania; siblings Doreen (Robert), Ronnie (Helen), Darlene, Diane (Tom), and Eddie; Daughter Crystal. He will also be affectionately missed by niece Cristina and great-nephew Jordan, as well as numerous in-laws and their families.
Louis was predeceased by his parents Louis Sr. and Cecilia, and his mother in-law Agnes.
Louis was born on April 26th, 1949 in St. Anne’s, Manitoba and was raised in Winnipeg. Louis was an outgoing, fun-loving person and he always enjoyed a good laugh. On the weekends Louis could not wait to get out to his home away from home in the country where he spent quality time with his dogs Toby and Lady. Louis enjoyed playing sports especially tennis, golf and, curling and he was always down for a good game of crib. Louis was always very passionate about his Metis culture. He took pride in what it meant to be a Metis volunteering at Folklorama, Metis Night, and at the Freight House. All the activities Louis loved to do were always with his wife by his side.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff at Riverview Healthcare Centre, especially the nurses and Spiritual Caregiver Amos whom Louis really adored.
Prayers will be held on Thursday November 3rd, 2011 at 7:00 PM at Cropo Funeral Chapel and a Celebration of Life will also be held at Cropo on Friday November 4th, 2011 at 2:00 PM.
